The kitchen should be one of the most peaceful rooms in the home. After all, you need a comfortable space to create culinary brilliance, with all the right appliances and essentials installed to facilitate the creation of some truly mouth watering meals!
However, if your design looks like it’s stuck in the 1980s, you’re probably already thinking about what you can do to take your kitchen from outdated to wonderfully upgraded.
If you have noticed any of these issues with your space, then it might just be time for that imperative remodel:
1. The appliances & fixtures are all old
The last thing you want is dangerous appliances and fixtures lingering around the kitchen. Instead, you should replace all old fittings with stunning new modern upgrades like smart stovetops, refrigeration, and the best black kitchen taps on the market.
Taps can be really dangerous when outdated, as their antiquated design does not allow for safe temperature control. As such, this should be one of the first things you consider when upgrading your fixtures – it’s a much safer, more economically-efficient option than any outdated fixtures!
2. The layout is substandard
Do you find it hard to navigate around your space? Are you constantly walking around in inconvenient strides to find one appliance before moving across the space just to grab a cooking essential from the refrigerator?
Well, this is a telltale sign that your layout needs a remodel. Cooking should be as convenient as possible to amplify our culinary creativity, so we shouldn’t have to worry about the constant frustrations of a poor layout when we are trying to make delectable delights for our loved ones.
If a remodel is on the cards, do consider the importance of the layout. Where should everything be situated? Should you go with the work triangle, which ensures easy access to the fridge, range, and sink? It is your space to play around and it can actually be a lot of fun figuring out what is going to work best for you and your culinary requirements!
3. You have no counter space
We don’t know why they did it, but older designs really suffered for counter space. When making magical meals, you want the room to prep. However, these outdated styles seemed to be made to fit the culinary convenience of the time (think transferring ready meals from the fridge to the microwave and onto the sofa).
The Australian culinary experience has come a long way since those easy-meal days of unhealthy convenience, and we Aussies love using the wonderful fresh produce we are blessed to make all kinds of delectable meals.
And you need space to make those meals – don’t overlook your counters when prioritizing cooking capabilities!
4. Forgetting storage
Storage space is essential to running an efficient kitchen. Therefore, there would be absolutely no point in producing ample counter space if said counters are only going to be taken up by all the appliances, cutlery, and crockery that you could have other neatly stored away in efficient, spacious cabinetry.
5. Buying the wrong appliances
Sure, there are many appliances out there these days, and they all promise to simplify your cooking experience. But do you really need some of the more… random appliances? There are plenty of bits and bobs out there that seem cool and funky but they only really complete tasks that we could just as easily do ourselves!
